"Sit a Spell"

"Sit a Spell" was recently entered in the MGAL Star Artist Exhibition and received the Judge's Special Recognition Award for Best Use of Color. The judge's were Jerry and Terry Lynn, twin artists from Mphs, Tn. The Exhibition runs through September 21st at St. George's Episcopal Church, 2425 South Germantown Rd, Germantown, Tn 38138. "All I Have Needed..."

This is my most recent painting- just a bit more tweaking and it should be finished! I've entitled it "All I Have Needed..." from the hymn "Great is Thy Faithfulness." As the painting started to come together, I was hit with how much He provides and in so many ways, and how oblivious (MOSTLY!) I am.

" A Different View"

As we were taking the scenic route a couple of summer's ago, I was captivated by the flying dolphin atop a portico on one of the beachside houses. I snapped the picture and couldn't wait to get home and paint him. When I downloaded it on my computer, I couldn't believe what I saw- a CATFISH!!! In Florida? ..... I painted it anyway- it was definitely " A Different View!"

"Softly and Tenderly"

I spotted this church on a recent road trip- it was such a compelling sight; peaceful and reassuring of my faith in the Lord. As I began painting it reminded me of the old gospel hymnal,"Softly and Tenderly..."

"Piece by Piece" was juried into the "MGAL National Exhibition" which will be held at the Germantown Preforming Arts Center (GPAC) April 20-May 14, 2009. It was also juried into the MGAL "Annual Spring Exhibition" also at the GPAC May 18-June 9, 2009.

Artist statement

In every composition there is a message. Sometimes it's evident, but more often than naught, it's how I react to my subject matter, or how it affects me. The beauty of nature never ceases to amaze me, and flowers in particular can actually overwhelm me....
